Hey there my Lovelies! I am back today with another trend report from High Point Fall Market, where I was one of 10 design influencers chosen for the Design Bloggers Tour by Esteem Media in collaboration with High Point Market Authority. If you missed my last color trend report, you can find it HERE.
Yesterday I had the pleasure of doing a presentation at the Houston Design Center for Access Design by Diane Cowen, a Writer for the Houston Chronicle. It was a lot of fun speaking on all the trends that I observed at Market.
Today’s post will be all about the silhouettes that were trending, special detailing, as well as function in furnishings

The most predominant silhouette were curves on upholstery. But not just upholstered pieces; curves were even showing on case goods and even lighting
This gorgeous curved sofa in Bernhardt’s showroom caught my attention right away. It is just as comfortable as it looks
I love the more traditional lines of this curved sofa in Surya’s showroom
Curves in light fixtures were also trending. These were my favorites from Hudson Valley from Martyn Bullard’s new collection.
How amazing is this console from E.J. Victor? The curved detail in the center highlighted in gold makes this such a unique piece. I want this piece for myself 🙂
I love how Stickley Furniture took a very timeless , signature piece that is their signature and added the curve to the back. Great way to update a traditional and timeless piece
Lots of functional seating and functionality in general were trending. Swivels, scatter ottomans, sofas with backs that double as seating, tables that integrate with seating.
This large comfortable leather sectional in the Stickley showroom was a great indication of how the trend for 2019 is all about functionality, entertaining and family gatherings. The large ottoman in the center can double as a cocktail table by adding a tray, or moved around for additional seating
Dorel Home is all about functional pieces. Their target audience is first time homeowners/apartment dwellers and even college dorms. Every piece is meant to have dual function in a room to maximize space. This sofa/daybed doubles……or triples as extra sleep space with the pull out trundle
Power motion was huge, and they were sleeker than ever. Bernhardt’s showroom displayed a great collection of beautiful power motion seating.
This sectional by E.J. Victor has to be my favorite find at Market. The back and arms is deep enough where it can become seating at parties. This one is definitely for the family that entertains a lot
Here’s our group posing for a photo opp.
Beautiful swivels were everywhere. And they looked nothing like the typical swivels with the visible mechanisms at the base. Most were sleek and modern and most importantly, comfortable
Scatter seating such as ottomans and stools add to the trend of functionality and family friendly designs. This small benches at the end of this bed in the Universal Furniture showroom are a great example of how you can add extra seating without taking up much more floor space
Lots of Tufting and quilting details on upholstery and even case goods. I especially loved the pleating detailing.
Loving these tufted floor pillows by Aidan Gray, and check out the leather quilting on the traditional bench
This signature Kelly Wearstler chair is the ultimate in this beautiful trend of pleating on chairs and upholstery pieces
This diamond tufted leather sofa from Four Hands also boasts this new trend. While diamond tufting is nothing new, it is usually found on more traditional lines. We are now seeing them on more modern silhouettes
These chairs by Bernhardt are more of a quilting detail. I love the addition of the button detail
Saddle style chairs are emerging as a trend as well. This o=was also one of my favorites from Four Hands showroom
White upholstery was everywhere. These days performance fabrics makes it easy to bring in lighter fabrics on upholstery pieces without fear; even if you have kids and pets. Crypton fabrics was huge at Market; and was a great representation of functionality and family friendly designs
Cisco Brothers had a great collection of beautiful white upholstery in performance fabrics
See how performance fabrics look just as beautiful as any other quality textile? The difference here is that you don’t have to worry about stains

Crypton Fabrics at Thibaut Showroom
Plinth bases were also still very popular on upholstered pieces, but that detail was added to case goods with traditional lines, which gave them a modern update
I am so in love with this burl book shelf from Modern History. Burl wood is also a trend that is emerging for 2019. But check out the gold base of this piece. How gorgeous is that?
Another functional piece that I thought was a great piece for this roundup is this swing by Lloyd Flanders. What I love most about it is that it has the cushion integrated into the seat itself, so there is no need for a separate cushion. Totally brilliant! I think that is a perfect for low maintenance of outdoor furniture
As you can see, the underlying theme this market was livable luxury. A great emphasis was placed on functional pieces and a great way for your home to function the way you live and entertain, but still be beautiful and luxurious.
Come back next week as I roundup all the materials that were trending and they way they were used.
Wishing You Beauty And Inspiration!
Veronica (and Rufus 🙂 )

I”m loving how high style has come back around to incorporating some cozy aspects that I think have been missing for a while. I love these!
That array of couches was amazing. There was a style or material for anyone and for any look in a living room. I loved the curve but the leather was also so plush.
It’s so fun to see what’s trending in home decor right now. I love the pink sofa with the pull out trundle. My daughter will be transitioning from dorm to apartment next school year and I think that would be such a perfect piece for her.
Congrats on being one of the 10! I like the curved couch. I haven’t seen one before that is modern/recent and I do appreciate the twist on the modern couch. I think a trundle under a couch is a good idea too!
These are awesome! I love those seats and functional pieces!
I never though how curves could look so good when it comes to furniture and lighting. I definitely have to take some tips as I plan to upgrade my living room furniture.
These are some really beautiful designs. I am really loving that curved couch a lot.
These are awesome designs! I would like to see some in my dream house in the future!
Wow so many stylish couches. I want a cute luxury couch for my home soon!
